The Coffee:
Wilder Lazo, our coffee maverick, ventured into the world of coffee in 2017 when he lent a hand to his father on a farm nestled in the San Adolfo mountains. Driven by his unwavering passion for coffee and his family's rich history in the trade, Wilder took a rather distinctive route into the coffee realm. He didn't just dip his toes into specialty coffee; he dove right in. Thanks to his genetic expertise and an insatiable appetite for learning, he kickstarted a varietal program. Today, it boasts over a dozen distinctive coffee varieties, cherry-picked from diverse sources. It's the coffee journey of a lifetime!
Process:
This Gesha undergoes a double fermentation process, immersed in anaerobic mucilage for 140 hours, enhancing floral and citric notes. Following this, an 18-day sun exposure, infused with tangerine peel for extra zest, adds depth to the flavor profile. Next, it undergoes a 25-day stabilization period post-sun soak before the grand milling finale.
The Roaster:
Lucky’s Coffee Roasters opened its first location in Downtown Upland, California, on June 13th, 2019. Despite the challenges of the pandemic, the company expanded to two more locations and a roasting facility within two years.
Guided by the philosophy of “community, not competition,” Lucky’s collaborates with local roasters to build a strong, supportive coffee community. While competition exists, the collective goal is to encourage customers to explore and enjoy the variety of coffees available. Luckys also has partnered in direct relationship with some of their farmers to help provide better resources and help families at origin.
Transparency, communication, and creating a welcoming space for both staff and customers are core values at Lucky’s. The team is passionate about sharing their love for coffee and ensuring every cup reflects their commitment to quality.
