The coffee:

Arturo Arango is part of a new generation of Colombian coffee producers who are redefining quality through education and innovation. He began producing coffee in 2015 after purchasing Finca El Paraiso, a 25-hectare farm nestled in the hills of Barcelona, Quindío. When Arturo acquired the property, most of the coffee trees were more than 25 years old. Determined to bring new life to the land, he began replanting the entire farm with Costa Rica and Java varieties. Today, El Paraiso thrives not only with coffee but also with other crops such as yucca and lemon, creating a balanced and biodiverse environment.

Arturo’s background in Business Administration and his master’s degree in Agroindustries from Argentina shaped his thoughtful approach to coffee farming. While studying abroad, he discovered the world of Specialty Coffee and was captivated by its culture, precision, and connection to people.

He often reflects on how Colombia’s coffee landscape has evolved from large-scale commercial production toward a focus on craftsmanship and quality. Arturo takes pride in being part of that transformation and in producing coffees that tell a story of dedication and respect for the land.

The roaster:

Kafiex Roasters is built on the foundation of curiosity and excellence, values that have earned them top placements in the U.S. Coffee Roasting Championship—4th place nationally in both 2024 and 2025. These achievements reflect their meticulous approach to roasting, and blending with sensory expertise to create coffees that stand out on the competition stage and in the cup.

Beyond competition, head roaster and co-founder Matthew Selivanow is passionate about fostering transparency in coffee. From direct trade relationships with producers to educating baristas and coffee lovers, Matthew's goal is always to bridge the gap between farm and final sip. Matthew believes that great coffee is not just about precision roasting—it’s about storytelling, connection, and honoring the hard work behind every bean.

Their approach is simple and rigorous: honor the producer, roast with precision, and share coffees that are memorable, transparent, and true to origin.
